Kilometres for charity

2018.09.14
400 km by bicycle along the Alps, 10 daredevils, 5 days on the road, common goal - helping children in Ukraine and the collected total sum of EUR 30,000. This is the result of the Halfway Alp Tour charity trip, with the participation of CEO Raben Group, Ewald Raben, organized on the occasion of his 50th birthday.

The DNA of a family company, which is based on a system of values, has a natural element of social responsibility and philanthropy. The Raben CSR policy focuses on positive relations with local communities, the natural environment and employees. Ewald Raben has launched many campaigns and initiatives promoting road safety (www.niebadzdziki.pl), the importance of transport (http://www.transport-jest-potrzebny.pl) and ecology (http://www.eco2way.com). He is also eager to engage in charitable actions such as, for example, cooperation with Food Banks in Poland and the Czech Republic, patronage over the Christmas convoy organized by the German Female Round Table Organization.

On the occasion of his 50th birthday, CEO Raben Group decided to organize a bicycle expedition to the Alps, to which he invited 9 daredevils, his friends and colleagues who, like him, share a passion for mountain trails. The purpose of the trip was to gather funds for the development of infrastructure and to promote hygiene awareness among children in Ukraine. A benefactor could be anyone who wished happy birthday to Ewald Raben because the CEO of the largest logistics company in Poland, instead of presents, preferred to support a charity campaign for Ukraine. In total, we managed to collect EUR 30,000.

“We put a lot of effort into this expedition, pouring out sweat, but it was worth it because we managed to collect EUR 30,000 for children in Ukraine. It is a huge satisfaction. I would like to thank all benefactors and fellow riders for their commitment and contribution.  Once again, we proved that together we can do more!” - said Ewald Raben, CEO Raben Group.

Part of the collected amount will soon be allocated to the renovation of the sanitary facilities in selected Ukrainian schools. The collected amount is also sufficient for the purchase of hygienic products for school children (the set includes: towel, soap, brush + toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush, etc.) as well as for education and training in personal hygiene for Ukrainian children. All of the activities mentioned above will be implemented through the Polish Humanitarian Action.

“It is a great honour for me to be here today with you and feel like part of the Raben family.” - said Maciej Bagiński, Member of the Board of the Polish Humanitarian Action, collecting the check from Ewald Raben - “Thank you for the gathered amount and congratulations on the successful trip; we are pleased that Raben shared its success with us. The money you collected will allow us to renovate toilets in the Luhansk Oblast in Ukraine.”
