“Raben Ukraine” has successfully completed the first online internship for students

2021.02.23
In less than a year the world has switched all spheres of life to the dimension of a new reality. Our present: meetings, interviews, negotiations, trainings – all this is online now. We were all forced to adapt to new conditions, and thus adapt traditional events (forums, conferences, practices) to unusual circumstances, instantly moving them into cyberspace.

Raben Ukraine has created its own virtual galaxy. At the end of 2020, the company conducted an online training to transfer knowledge of best management practices. Combining training techniques with modern facilitation tools, it was possible to involve all participants as effectively as possible. Later despite the circumstances that forced part of the team to work remotely, the company implemented Manager of Choice, a large-scale project to develop the leaders. It was a special virtual game world with about 1000 participants. The result is a higher level of each specialist in terms of management skills. In January this year, when it was time for winter student internship, Raben Ukraine organized online the process as effectively as possible.

“Raben Ukraine has been cooperating with universities for many years in a row and has been inviting students to get acquainted with the practical side of logistics as a profession. But despite all the safety and hygiene rules introduced by the company at the beginning of the pandemic, it was clear that we would not be able to invite students. The internship was supposed to switch from offline to online” – comments Yulia Grabova, HR manager of Raben Ukraine.

On the first day, the CEO of the company welcomed the students. Inna Ocheretna shared her memories of student life, told how she came to logistics, informed about the company’s activities, priorities and plans. She willingly answered students’ questions. Later, the heads of operational units joined the case. It was they who met with the students from day to day.

Each department delegated a speaker who told future specialists about the specifics of working in logistiсs in an interesting and accessible way. However, reading a lecture is not enough. The task was to involve students in discussion in order to consolidate the acquired knowledge. The lecturers approached the task responsibly. They have prepared various assignments, for example: to make an order for transportation; try to place the cargo in a truck minding the neighborhood; to give an answer to the client in case of delay of cargo delivery, to carry out mini-investigation, having disassembled all chain of delivery. In addition, it was suggested to train to calm one’s emotions, to find out how to work with public opinion on social networks and how to write your first CV in a proper way.

Every day, logistic professionals met with students and covered the following topics: international transportation (groupage and FTL cargoes); fresh logistics (warehousing and delivery); transportation on the territory of Ukraine (peculiarities of consolidation and transportation of groupage cargoes).

“When it comes to storage, assembly and packaging of goods, there is little to tell – it must be seen. Therefore, specialists in warehousing logistics demonstrated pre-prepared videos, commenting on warehousing processes. And the result was great! It was especially important that the students received information about the automated warehouse accounting system and its benefits for customers” – comments Julia Grabova, HR-manager of Raben Ukraine.

In addition to operational topics, the peculiarities of PR, IT and HR work in logistic company were also covered.

In general, an internship at Raben Ukraine is more than 20 hours of communication. Interesting questions and answers, practical cases and professional advice. Plus positive emotions and satisfied participants of the process: students, teachers and speakers of the company.

“Ask me about a dream company and I will tell you its Raben Ukraine. Most recently, my internship with leading Raben experts ended and I envy myself. Teachers and the curator of the practice do not hide their admiration.

“The future is being formed today. Former students are now experienced specialists of the leading enterprises in transport industry, and the current ones are the basis for laying the foundation for the future. And it is extremely important to form professional skills in young people during their studies. But being useful is not enough, it is important to be an example to follow. Raben Ukraine has become such an example for students of the National Transport University. For two weeks the team of unsurpassed specialists of the company became lectors, mentors and friends who shared their professional skills with our students. Each lesson is a kaleidoscope of rich content, positive motivation, unquestioning love for work and friendly attitude to curious young people.

We are sincerely grateful to the friendly family of Raben Ukraine for the opportunity to join the event and gain invaluable experience for future professionals in transport industry. We wish you success, inspiration for new achievements and inspiration in your professional activity”, – comments Natalia Luzhanska, curator of the practice, senior lecturer at the National Transport University.
